Chronic Pain & Fibromyalgia Therapy in California
Living with pain can take more than physical energy. It can affect your confidence, relationships, plans, and sense of who you are. You may feel worn down by explaining yourself or frustrated that the things you used to do now require so much thought.
I'm Grace Davis, LCSW. I offer online therapy for adults in California who are navigating chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and the emotional strain of ongoing health concerns.

Your pain deserves to be taken seriously
You deserve support even when your symptoms are hard for other people to see. In our work together, there is room to talk about frustration, sadness, fear, and the pressure to keep going. You do not need to put a positive spin on a difficult day.
Therapy can support coping and daily functioning alongside your medical care. We will focus on your experience and the changes that would make life feel more manageable.
Finding a pace that works for you
It can be difficult to balance wanting to participate in life with needing time to rest. We can explore patterns of pushing through, feeling depleted, and being hard on yourself afterward. Together, we can work on realistic expectations, boundaries, and routines that allow room for your needs.
The goal is to help you make thoughtful choices about where your energy goes, while staying connected to what matters to you.
Grief, relationships, and asking for support
There may be grief about changes in your body, work, independence, or plans for the future. You might feel guilty saying no, worry about disappointing others, or struggle to explain why your capacity changes from day to day.
We can practice expressing what you need, asking for help, and responding to misunderstandings. We can also talk about identity and self-worth when you cannot measure your day by how much you accomplished.
What does therapy for chronic pain involve?
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other approaches tailored to your concerns. Our work may include noticing unhelpful thought patterns, managing stress, making space for difficult emotions, and finding meaningful activities that fit your current circumstances.
Therapy does not replace medical assessment or promise to eliminate pain. You can seek emotional support while continuing to pursue appropriate medical care. If worry is also taking up space, you can learn about my approach to anxiety therapy.
Getting started with online therapy
I offer video sessions for adults who are physically in California during appointments. We will talk about what brought you in, what you would like to change, and whether we are a good fit. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
Insurance is accepted through Headway, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, Curative, Oxford, Providence Health Plan, and UnitedHealthcare.
